(NSI News Source Info) WASHINGTON - May 26, 2009: Judge Sonia Sotomayor makes brief remarks after U.S. President Barack Obama announced that she is his choice to replace retiring Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court during an announcement with Vice President Joe Biden in the East Room of the White House May 26, 2009 in Washington, DC. 
If approved by the U.S. Senate, Sotomayor will be the first Hispanic and the thrid woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court. Sotomayor currently sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, based in New York.
