Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi thanked the people for a "massive mandate" The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) led by Congress party has won 261 seats, followed by the National Democratic Alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with 159 seats, according to the election commission.
