(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - January 18, 2015: Iranian experts have successfully tested a new domestically-made fighter jet, called Borhan (Reasoning), in the country’s national wind tunnel facility, the Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.

The fighter, which is also known as B92, has been manufactured by the Iranian military experts.

Currently, 70 percent of the detail design of the fighter, which is an updated and optimized version of Shafaq fighter, has been completed and its mock-up has been also manufactured.

Some changes have been made in the design of the aircraft to boost its capabilities, compared to Shafaq fighter, including its vertical tail as well as the airfoil of its wings.

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - September 24, 2012: Iran says on Sunday that the World War III may erupt if the Islamic republic is attacked by Israel.

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Aerospace Division of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) , warned on Sunday that an Israeli strike on Iran could trigger the World War III, Press TV reported.

Israel, threatening to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities these days, has always been highly concerned over Iran's nuclear program, which is believed by the West to head for acquiring nuclear weapons under the cover of civilian purposes.

Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes, and warned that it will retaliate if it comes under attack.

Hajizadeh said in case of the eruption of such a war against Iran, the situation would be out of control, according to Press TV.

"This war is likely to degenerate into the World War III," Hajizadeh said, adding that it means some countries might enter the war in favor of or against Iran.

"We see the United States and the Zionist regime (of Israel) alongside one another and we can by no means imagine that the Zionist regime would initiate a war (against Iran) without the U.S. support," he was quoted as saying.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the U.S. bases in the region as part of American soil and will definitely target them if a war breaks out," he added.

On Saturday, Iran's Commander of the IRGC, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, said that a war on Iran "will eventually happen," Press TV reported.

"War will happen but it is not clear where and when," Jafari said, adding that Iran is ready to confront any possible strike against the country.

The Israeli officials currently consider war as the only way to confront Iran, he claimed, insisting that if they begin a war, it will spell their destruction and will be the end of their adventure.

The Iranian commander said that the armed forces of the Islamic republic enjoy capabilities and equipment in hardware and software fields, according to the report.

Also, Hossein Salami, another IRGC commander, reiterated the remarks by Jafari on Sunday that "Iran will obliterate the Zionist regime if the latter takes any action against Iran," the official IRNA news agency reported.

Salami said Iran does not initiate war against any country but in case it is attacked by any country it will never stop its counterattack till the annihilation of the enemy.

Also on Sunday, Press TV reported that Iran's Air Force plans to hold a massive military maneuver in the southern parts of the country by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2013).

"Maneuvers to be carried out by Iran are peaceful and indicate that Iran and regional countries are capable of safeguarding their security," Deputy Commander of Iran's Air Force, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, was quoted as saying.

Nasirzadeh said that the presence of non-regional powers in the Persian Gulf is "illegitimate" and emphasized that there is no necessity for such a presence.

Non-regional powers cannot provide regional states with security, he said, adding that the countries in the region can ensure their security if they cooperate with each other.

According to IRNA, IRGC will also hold a 15,000-man maneuver in Shahr-e-Rey district of Tehran city for two days from September 27- 28.

IRGC Commander in charge of the operations, General Nasiri told IRNA that the exercises aim to raise combat readiness of the ground forces.

Nasiri said that the troops will conduct shooting, night war, relief and rescue operations, said the report.

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - May 1, 2012: Iran's Defence Minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, has warned that the basing of the US F-22 Raptor strike aircraft in the United Arab Emirates is "detrimental to regional security."

According to the FARS news agency Vahidi said today that "The deployment of F-22 fighters in a base in the UAE is a harmful move and undermines the security of the region.      

"We consider such (military) presence in the region as to be useless and harmful and more aimed at creating a psychological ploy and an insecure atmosphere in the region. We don't see it useful" Vahidi told Al Alam TV network, according to FARS.

Vahidi said that guaranteeing security in region is possible only through cooperation among all the regional states. 

The comments by the Iranian minister came after media reports revealed that the US has recently deployed its F-22 Raptors at the UAE Al Dafra Air Base.
In a comment, FARS said that Iranian officials have always cautioned about the devastating consequences of tension in the region, and called on certain regional states to be "watchful of the plots of some aliens who seek to stir tension in this sensitive region."

It said: "Tehran believes that deployment of trans-regional powers in the region impairs security and is a source of tension in the region, reiterating that regional peace and security will be established if all the regional countries grow united and stage all-out cooperation."

The United States has deployed sophisticated F-22 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates amid deepening tensions between Iran and its pro-US neighbors, officials said Monday.

The US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, would not say how many F-22s would be sent to the Al-Dhafra air base in the United Arab Emirates. Military officers tend to avoid publicly discussing details of operations at the US air base.

An Air Force spokeswoman confirmed that a number of F-22 Raptors, the most advanced fighter in the US fleet, would be deployed to the region without mentioning the base or Iran.

"The United States Air Force has deployed F-22s to Southwest Asia. Such deployments strengthen military-to-military relationships, promote sovereign and regional security, improve combined tactical air operations, and enhance interoperability of forces, equipment and procedures," said Major Mary Danner-Jones.

Pentagon spokesman Captain John Kirby told reporters the move "was a very normal deployment" in keeping with an adjustment of US forces in the region following the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.

Territorial disputes between Iran and the United Arab Emirates over three islands in the Gulf have flared recently, with Washington voicing support for Abu Dhabi's stance.

The argument over the Gulf islands comes against the backdrop of tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program, with the US, European and Israeli governments fearing Tehran is pursuing a clandestine nuclear weapons project.

Iran's atomic ambitions and growing missile arsenal have raised concerns in Gulf Arab states, which have negotiated arms deals with Washington to build up missile defenses as a counter to Iran.

In December, the United States announced a $3.48 billion arms sale with the United Arab Emirates for missile defense batteries and radars.

He said that the details concerning this sphere of the Iranian military production will be announced in the nearest future.

The military aircraft "Saiga" was produced in 2007. The Defense Ministry announced about its modernization in 2008.

Besides "Saiga" fighter, the Islamic Republic of Iran produces military aircrafts of Azarakhsh type. Iran announced about launching of the new unmanned aircrafts with a range of 1,000 km in 2009.

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - July 29, 2010: In 8, May 2010, Iran launched the third phase of a major naval exercise in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, it was live on their national TV. Iran's armed forces in past have launched series of large-scale exercises in the country's territorial waters. The expanded naval drills, codenamed Velayat 89 had lasted for eight days and cover some 250,000 square kilometers of Iranian territorial waters. During the fourth day of the drill, hovercrafts strafed mock enemy targets while vessels, destroyers, and frigates blocked their advance towards Iran's territorial waters, a TV correspondent reported it live. In another operation, speed boats, backed by Air Force fighters, stopped and captured an invading vessel. Tactical operations included electronic countermeasures (ECM) as well as disabling enemy radars and communication systems. The third stage of the drill was with reconnaissance and drone aircrafts conducting interception operations, and was also reported successful. Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari has said the exercise is to display Iran's "defensive and deterrent power," and send a message of "peace and friendship" to regional states. In another exercises, the Iran's Revolutionary Guards conducted a wide-ranging naval exercise in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, codenamed Great Prophet 5. Brigadier General Hossein Salami, deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), said April's three-day drills were designed to "ensure security in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman." Iranian military officials have repeatedly warned that if Tehran is attacked, it will retaliate by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Nearly 40% of the world's seaborne oil shipments pass through the strategically important waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Meanwhile Iran's Air Force will stage massive week-long drills to start Saturday, a national news agency quoted a senior commander said yesterday. Air Force Lieutenant Commander for Operations Mohammad Alavi told FNA that the exercises, code named Fada'eyan-e Harreem-e Vellayat (Devotees to the Sanctity of Religious Leadership), will be held July 31 through August 7. He said 43 warplanes, including ( F-4, F-5, F-7) and Sukhoi Su-24 fighters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will take part in the exercises. He said a variety of air-to-surface missiles and other weapons would be test-fired during the drills. Mr Alavi also stressed that the drills "are aimed at demonstrating the power of the Iranian Air Force and boosting the combat power of different Air Force units."

"The new missiles have been loaded onto the Army's fighter jets ... They had a fully successful performance today," Alawi was quoted as saying. The new developments have boosted the capability of the Army's fighter jets in confronting naval targets, the commander said. On Sunday, Alawi told Fars that the Iranian Army's Air Force has recently equipped its fighter jets with newly-developed sophisticated electronic warfare systems. The Iranian army also exercised electronic eavesdropping by a special type of aircraft and also used sea patrol airplanes on the fifth day of the war games on Sunday, according to the report. "Indeed, it can be said that most airplanes have the previous designs but all of their components, including systems and parts, are being optimized and upgraded on a continued and regular basis," Iranian Air Force Lieutenant Commander for Coordination General Aziz Nasirzadeh said in an interview with FNA on Tuesday. The commander stated that mounting optimized home-made 2,000-pound (900-kilogram) smart bombs, Qassed (Messenger), on Iranian bombers is an instance of the country's capability to upgrade its fighter jets. The Iranian Army's Air Force announced in September that it has successfully test-fired Qassed (Messenger) 1and 2, in aerial drills over the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. Referring to the promotion of the systems and capabilities of F14 fighter jets, Nasirzadeh said, "…today we have a new generation of F14 fighters at our service, and its radar system has been upgraded by our local experts." Reiterating that the new radar system has been built and installed on the F14 fighter jets by the Iranian personnel, the General added, "Therefore, we can enhance and upgrade it (radar) continuously. The commander also pointed out that his forces have even upgraded the jet engines of F14, and said considering the numerous alterations that Iran has made to the radar system and the engines of F14, it can be said that what Iranian Air Force now has is a new generation of the globally known version of F14. He further announced that Iran has already started a move to manufacture aircraft engines and has achieved acceptable results in this regard. Iran has recently made good progress in the air industry and succeeded in gaining the technical know-how for producing stealth aircraft and drones. In September 2009, Iran displayed the first squadron of Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jets produced by its defense industries in an air show staged during military parades at the beginning of the Week of Sacred Defense, marking Iranians' sacrifices during the 8 years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s.

Iranian fighter jets fly over the mausoleum of late revolutionary founder Ayatollah Khomeini, during a military parade ceremony marking the 29th anniversary of the start of the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war, just outside Tehran, Iran, Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009. An Iranian military plane crashed into fields just south of Tehran early Tuesday, according to the state IRNA news agency, saying the plane flew in the air force show that was part of the parade, but there is no immediate word of casualties or details about the plane. *Source: DTN News / Int'l Media (NSI News Source Info) TEHRAN, Iran - September 20, 2009: Iran will display its military might during an aerial maneuver, in which the first-ever squadron of Iran's domestically-made Saegheh (Thunderbolt) aircraft will partake.

The Saeqheh is the most advanced F-5 modification project known, intended to learn about the effects of twin tail on the aircraft's performance. It was developed by MATSA Air Force Technology and Electronic Center and the Shahid Sattari Air Force University of Tehran, starting in 1998, first flight occurring on 30 May 2004. In July 2004 Iran showed a video and pictures of the latest prototype fighter jet, called Saeqeh, or Saeqeh-80 (after the Islamic year 1380). The aircraft resembled an F-5E Tiger II with a pair of canted vertical stabilizers, resembling those of the American F/A-18. The similarities were reinforced by the announcement that this new aicraft was a follow on to the Azarakhsh (Thunder) aircraft, which also bore significant similarities to the F-5E.

The Islamic Republic Air Force (IRAF) had earlier unveiled its advanced Saegheh (Thunderbolt) aircraft; however IRAF commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi said on Saturday that the country has now manufactured enough units of the aircraft to form a squadron.

"The maneuver was initially scheduled for April 18, however it was rescheduled for September 22, due to weather conditions," Brigadier General Shah-Safi was quoted by Fars News as saying. The Air Force commander added that other domestically-built aircraft such as Azarakhsh (Lightning) and Iran-140 will also participate in the aerial maneuver.
